The Movie: Harold and Maude (1971)
What Is It?:
Suicidal young man Harold Chasen (Bud Cort) and the elderly Maude (Ruth
Gorden) are fascinated with death for different
reasons: Harold believes he has nothing to live for, while Maude realizes she
doesn’t have much time left. This fascination with death brings the two
together, and they become fast friends, and ultimately, romantically involved.
I find it hard to believe that
someone could sit through this movie and not see how someone, regardless of
age, could fall in love with Maude.

this day in 1929, Hal Ashby is born.
