The Movie: Dracula (1958)
What Is It?: It’s
probably a cliché to say that Dracula is Hammer’s best horror, but some clichés
are true. It’s the best, from Christopher Lee’s imposing turn as the count, to
Peter Cushing’s endearing and high-action one as Van Helsing, to Jack Asher’s
sumptuous cinematography and Terence Fisher and Jimmy Sangster’s economical
storytelling.

Bram Stoker’s novel, Jonathan Harker arrives at Castle Dracula on May 5.
