5-Disc CD/Blu-ray Edition of 'Pet Sounds' Coming This Summer

A Billboard article announcing Brian Wilson's decision to expand his recently announced 50th Anniversary Pet Sounds shows to a full tour also casually dropped the following tidbit: this June, Capitol/UMe will be releasing a number of 50th Anniversary versions of Pet Sounds, including a four CD/Blu-ray audio box set.

This will not be the first time The Beach Boys' landmark LP has gotten the box set treatment--1997 saw the release of the four-disc Pet Sounds Sessions, which gave a glimpse of the recording process behind the masterpiece--but this new box will include stereo, mono, alternate, instrumental, and 5.1 mixes of the original album; outtakes; and unreleased live recordings, as well as a hardcover book.

The expanded Pet Sounds will also be available as a more concise double-disc set and a 180-gram vinyl reissue of the original 13-track LP. Stay tuned for more information as a specific release date, track list, and pre-order information is announced...
Thanks to The Second Disc for this scoop.
