366 Days at the Drive-In: Day 6

The Date: October 6

The Movie: Frankenstein (1910)

What Is It?: Landmark horror short often attributed to Thomas Edison but really the work of J. Searle Dawley, an employee of the Edison Company. It's all over so fast that there's little time for plot, but Chuck Ogle's portrayal of the hunched, frizzy-haired monster will linger long after the film's 16 minutes.

Why Today?: On this day in 1889, Thomas Edison screens the very first movie in West Orange, NJ.
