Damned Doc Open Now!

Here's one that sneaked up on me... at the end of last year, I posted my wish list for 2015. This was the second time I'd done such a thing since 2011, and one of the few things that appeared on both lists was my wish for a good biography of The Damned, the best damned punk band in punk history as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't look like that particular wish will be fulfilled this year, but something even better may be going down. As it turns out, there is a brand new, four-years-in-the-making Damned documentary playing now, and its trailer makes The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead look like it could be one of the great rock documentaries. If nothing else, it has a great title. Wes Orshoski's film not only boasts interviews with Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies, Brian James, Paul Gray, and the elusive Dave Vanian, but it also features testimonials from the likes of Mick Jones, Lemmy, Jello Biafra, Chrissie Hynde, Steve Diggle, Gaye Advert, Chris Stein, and many others. Check out the trailer here, then check your local movie listings to find out if you're in the right location to skip off school to see The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead!
