"Rutles Anthology' Coming to Blu-Ray and DVD

In 1978, Monty Python's Eric Idle pulled off what must still stand as the best Beatles parody film with The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash. The TV movie was based on a 1975 short film that aired on "Rutland Weekend Television" and later on "Saturday Night Live." Joined by part-time Pythoner and former Bonzo Dog Bander Neil Innes, former Beach Boy Rikki Fataar, and former Timebox drummer John Halsey, Idle put together a brilliant pseudo-documentary about the band with the tightest trousers in Rutland. Special guests included Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, multiple SNL and Python cast members, and in heavy disguise, George Harrison himself. In 2004, Idle continued the lampoon with The Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch.

Now Video Services Corp. is packaging all these bits together for a DVD/Blu-Ray combo package called The Rutles Anthology, which will see release on December 3. The set will also include Idle's commentary on All You Need Is Cash and extra interviews, as well as spruced up picture from the original source material.
