  1. I'm waiting for the immersive virtual reality experience that puts me inside the teepee while Brian hums melodies into his sandwich.

  2. We're still waiting for a track list on that one, but rumor has it the sandwich will be tuna.

  4. Hi Mike:
The long awaited Capital/Brian/VanDyke lp sequence is now 19 songs, not the12 originally slated, so disc one is the real gem of this set, or is it? I wonder if H&V and Good Vibrations will hold never heard surprises, since the track times look longer. Is Surf's Up, Cabin-Essence, Wind Chimes, Wonderful, Da Da, Vegetables etc all new REAL 1966-7 Smile versions, or simply lifts from previosly released versions? Will Plymouth Rock, Look, Barnyard, Holidays, I Wanna Be around and Child is Father have any vocals, especially leads that have finally been found? If not, I don't want to hear just instrumental tracks again....just like the boots. Sorry to say this but, the Smile backing track montage, the Our Prayer sessions, the original clean solo 1967 Surf's Up solo and the few other oddities (like the fall in piano and psych sounds etc), have my interest, but entire discs of H&V and GV sessions, fair to say Sea of Tunes has delivered 80% of this material already? Well, we'll just have to shell out $200 bucks and find out!!!! Regards, Vinny

  6. A 4 CD SMiLE box was issued in the Unsurpassed Masters series; a 3 CD Good Vibrations box was issued in the same series.

UM also published an 18 (eighteen) tracks single CD SMiLE.

If someone will have the time to make comparisons (and someone will) it might be of interest, also given the rumours that some of the material came directly from original masters.

    Cheers

    Stefano

  7. Stefano:
The UM stuff sounded pretty close to Master lifts (some of it) yes? This is my point: While Capital slept for decades, dozens of discs of this stuff has come out on boots. I did not like some of the finished (lyrically/vocally) '04 BW Smile, especially idiotic stuff like the carnival barker "Holidays". I believe that Brian, having scrapped original BB's Smile trax in favor of remakes for Smiley Smile, plus eventually putting out Our Prayer, H&V/Your Welcome, Cabinessence, Surf's Up and Cool Cool Water from 67-71, was his way of putting out the cream of the crop from Smile era writing. I fear this massive box set, for me, will contain just a few items of interest BECAUSE we heard it all before; and we have had for years what Brian wanted us to hear. I hope I will be surprised and not find 2011 Smile to turn out to be, as Carl once said about Smiley Smile, "a bunt instead of a grand slam." God Bless Brian and The Beach Boys forever! Vinny
